FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9: Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd has appointed Stephen Young to lead its Global Catastrophe Reinsurance business.

Mr Young replaces Christopher Schaper, who is moving to a senior executive position elsewhere in the industry.

Endurance, which is based in Bermuda, specializes in property and casualty insurance and reinsurance.

Mr Young joined the reinsurance team as an underwriter in 2002. In 2005 he assumed responsibility for the company’s US catastrophe reinsurance business. Last year he gained responsibility for all property catastrophe underwriting in the Americas.

He has since undertaken additional responsibilities in property catastrophe.

Leadership

Mr Young, a Bermudian, was previously employed as an underwriter by Scandinavian Reinsurance.

David Cash, Endurance Specialty Holdings CEO, said: “Stephen has been with Endurance for nine years and during that time he has demonstrated the technical skills and leadership qualities which will serve him well as he takes on this additional responsibility.

“We are very fortunate to have an individual of Stephen’s calibre on our team and I am confident that he will be successful in leading our global property catastrophe and specialty casualty reinsurance businesses.”

Mr Cash added: “Christopher (Schaper) has been a significant part of Endurance’s success over the years and we wish him well in his new endeavours.”
