Deloitte Bermuda has taken an active accounting role in the Bermuda Athletic Association (BAA).

The club has recently encountered high costs and a reduction of sport in the face of a challenging economic environment.

John Doran, president of BAA, said in a press release: “BAA has become a beacon of hope for Bermuda’s community. We’ve created an atmosphere and facility for everyone. We continue to push the development of our members as we share, collaborate and give back to others. Bermuda needs healthy citizens and responsible community members who engage in honourable behaviour both on and off the field and we are pleased to support that.”

BAA is the first sports club to be formed by Bermudians. The club hosts several football clubs as well as a football league, and over 200 games per season are played at the BAA field as well as weekly youth games.

The association’s full-time director of football is Kenny Thompson.

A spokesperson for Deloitte said the firm “is pleased to show support for our community and contribute towards a healthy, well-educated Bermuda”.
