The Sargasso Sea Alliance has launched an iPhone app.

The app, Conserving the Sargasso Sea, includes nine reasons why the vast swath of ocean should be protected along with associated images, recent news updates and links to more information about project partners and relevant international organizations.

The Sargasso Sea Alliance works in partnership on the proposal to protect the Sargasso Sea led by the Government of Bermuda.

The app, which also offers a map of the Study Area, was developed to help educate the public about the importance of the proposal and to protect a high seas marine area in a mobile and easily portable format.

Government claims that this is the first-ever iPhone app developed for a proposal to protect a high seas marine area.
