Traffic was backed up as far as Bailey's Bay heading into St Georges as a precautionary measure.

An airplane was due to make an emergency landing and traffic was stopped as a result on both side of LF Wade Airport.

 A police spokesman  said, "The small plane has since landed safely with no reported injuries. ‎

"Traffic flow surrounding L. F. Wade International Airport has now returned to normal. The Bermuda Police Service appreciates the patience and cooperation of the motorists delayed due to this situation."

Traffic is usually not allowed to drive past the Causeway according to policy in a situation like this.

A police spokesman said, "Emergency landing procedures have been initiated surrounding L. F. Wade International Airport due to a small plane attempting to land with reported landing gear issues.

"As a result, police officers will hold traffic heading east into St. George's at Grotto Bay a‎nd traffic traveling west out of St. George's will be held at the Swing Bridge round-a-bout until further notice."
