THURSDAY, DEC. 1, 3PM UPDATE: A man appeared in court today charged with murdering a woman who was found dead in the water.

David Wayne DeSilva, 46, pleaded not guilty to murdering Denise Sylvia Evans Wilkinson between April 26 and April 29.

Her body was found in the water off Fairylands on April 29.

Mr DeSilva was remanded into custody until January 3 when a trial date is likely to be set.

Cannabis resin

Two Georgia women pleaded guilty to drug charges in the monthly arraignment session today.

Alloah Releford, 23, and Latoya Powell, 27, admitted conspiring with others not before the court to import cannabis resin between a date unknown and October 8.

A social inquiry report was ordered and the matter will be mentioned on January 3 when a sentencing date will be set.

Kamal Worrell represents Releford of Temple, Georgia and Powell of Marietta, Georgia.

 

Sentences

Meanwhile, Jahmel Blakeney, 30, and Sanchey Grant, 20, will be sentenced on December 15.

They were convicted last week of the attempted murder of Renee Kuchler and Shaki Minors on November 13, 2009 at the Southside Cinema.

Marico Bassett, 20, will be sentenced on December 6 for the attempted murder of Randy Lightbourne on July 23, 2010 at the Charing Cross Tavern in Sandys.

Michelle Gibbons will be sentenced on December 14 for conspiring to import cannabis.

Brittonie Taylor, 30, will be sentenced on December 15 for serious sexual assault on a woman on May 28 in Smith’s.

A sentencing date for Erskin Phillips, 33, will be set either on January 3 or as soon as reports have been completed.

Phillips pleaded guilty last month to breaking into his neighbour’s home with a Taser on June 28.

And Gladstone Butterfield, 26, will be sentenced on December 19 for possession of a firearm on July 25 in Southampton.
