FRIDAY, APR. 29: With all this talk about the end of the world – could the Armageddon be here already?

The Armageddon is an indicator of the end of the world with a battle between good and evil.

We all know that there is definitely a fierce war of good and evil going on. The Bible speaks of Armageddon as a final and decisive war — a war that will end all wars and conflict — as at the end good will be the victor.

How good and evil came into such fierce battle attributes to when Shaytun was driven out of paradise by Allah for disobedience (for me disobedience is the root of all evil).

Shaytun had the audacity to tell Allah that he would wage a war against him. One so fierce that Allah would not even recognize His own people after he (Shaytun) was done with them. Is this not the truth, as so many evil people seem to be possessed by the devil himself?

Most Christians believe that the Devil, or Satan, is a fallen angel.

In Christianity, a fallen angel is an angel who has been banished from heaven for rebellious or disobedient behaviour.

Islamic teaching holds that there is no such thing as a fallen angel. We believe that angels do not possess free will and therefore are incapable of disobedience to their Creator.

Iblis is not an angel, but a jinn who is a different kind of being than angels, who are created by Allah from light, whilst jinn are created from smokeless fire. Unlike angels, jinn do have free will and can commit sins. The Qur'an explains that Shaytun’s fall from grace was due to his refusal to obey Allah and prostrate to Adam — the first human being created by Allah.

“We did bring you into being, then We gave you shape, then We commanded the angels: Submit to Adam. The angels submitted, but not Iblis, he was not among those who submitted." (Surah 7:12).

According to the Qur’an, (Allah) said: ‘What prevented you (O Iblis) that you did not prostrate yourself when I commanded you?’ (Iblis) said: ‘I am better than him (Adam). You created me from fire, and him You created from clay.’ (Allah) said: ‘(O Iblis) get down from this (Paradise); it is not for you to be arrogant here. Get out, for you are of those humiliated and disgraced.” (Qur'an 7: 12-13.)

For his punishment, Allah sentenced Satan to eternity in Hell. However, at Satan's request, Allah permitted him to roam the earth and misguide man until the Day of Judgment.

Do you agree that Shaytun, the Devil, is a powerful entity who was disobedient to God and wishes mankind to be sinful as well? Satan, like a sinking ship, is bent on taking all down with him. Whom will you follow?

I spoke a few weeks ago about ignorance being the root cause of intolerance.

Perhaps you are holding onto stereotypes — well, here is your chance to be apprised if you don’t know much about Islam.
