Some of Bermuda’s top musicians are to unite for a vibrant evening of jazz as part of the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts on Saturday night.

They will be led by Boston-born pianist Tony Bari in a programme that includes music by Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, Bill Withers and Earth, Wind and Fire.

Bari settled in Bermuda in 1984 and played as a piano soloist and with the island’s musicians.

He was born into a musical family and was taught piano byhis mother from an early age. He later learned to play classical music with his grandfather, his father taught him swing, and his uncle got him into jazz.

He worked in Las Vegas, New York and Miami before travelling the world as a musical director for various cruise lines.

Bari won the BELCO Visitor’s Industry Partnership VIP Entertainer of the Year Award for his work as an entertainer, vocalist, master of ceremonies and musical director.
