FRIDAY, NOV. 09: Bermuda Documentary Film Festival is to re-screen two sell-out films from this year’s festival.

Italy: Love It Or Leave It and The Imposter will screen at the Weekend Film Series on Sunday November 18.

Italy: Love It Or Leave It has been an international festival hit since its world premiere at the Milan Film Festival, where it won the Audience Choice Award. It picked up the audience award at the well-regarded Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, as well as jury awards at Honolulu and Annecy.

It follows partners Luca Ragazzi and Gustav Hofer who set out in a vintage Fiat Uno on a tour of Italy to help them decide whether to stay in their homeland or move to another country. They weigh up beautiful destinations such as include George Clooney’s home on the shores of Lake Como with the less savoury political corruption and social inertia.

The Imposter is documentary crossed with film noir.

In 1994 a 13-year-old boy disappears without a trace from San Antonio, Texas. Three and a half years later he is found alive, thousands of miles away in a village in southern Spain with a story of kidnap and torture.

His family is overjoyed to bring him home.

But all is not quite as it seems. The boy bears many of the same distinguishing marks he always had, but why does he now have a strange accent? Why does he look so different? And why doesn’t the family seem to notice these glaring inconsistencies?

It’s only when an investigator starts asking questions that this strange tale takes an even stranger turn.

Italy: Love It Or Leave It will screen at 3pm., while The Imposter will screen at 5.15pm at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.

Tickets are on sale now at the Oceans Gift Shop at the BUEI, or by calling 297-7314.
