A cruise passenger has died after the ship she was travelling on diverted into Bermuda at the weekend.

The 55-year-old woman fell ill while she was on board the Celebrity Constellation as the vessel was travelling between Fort Lauderdale and Lisbon.

The cruise liner diverted into Bermuda in the early hours of Sunday morning.

At around 2am the vessel came into Five Fathom Hole off St George’s and the woman was taken ashore on board the Pilot Boat.

She was brought into Ordnance Island and rushed to LF Wade International to be flown off-island.

However she was later pronounced dead at hospital.
