Tre Houston and Shianne Smith headline the athletics team for the 2013 Natwest Island Games, which was announced on Wednesday.

Despite several top athletes, including Olympic finalist Tyrone Smith, being unable to compete due to conflicting meets overseas, Bermuda still fields an exciting team.

Donna Watson, president of the Bermuda National Athletics Association, said in a press release: “We have a balanced team and we have no doubt this team will represent Bermuda and put on a great show.”

It is expected that this will be Bermuda’s best-ever showing in athletics at the Island Games with a multitude of medals.

The team is highlighted by elite sprinter Houston, who will compete in the 100 and 200 metre events, and hurdler Smith, who will compete in the 100 and 400 metre hurdles as well as the 200m and the Javelin throw.
