WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29 UPDATE: Harbour Nights is cancelled due to bad weather, so the “How Much Would You Pay To See Me…?” event will take place on September 5.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 24: How much money would it take for you to do something crazy and off the wall in front of a large audience?

And what if that money was going towards charity, would that give you more incentive to up the ante?

A few brave souls, all local celebrities, have accepted the challenge to do a dare at Harbour Nights next Wednesday all in the name of charity.

The dares range from eating a spider, getting a pie in the face, rapping on stage and much more.

All proceeds from the events will go towards the Big Brother Big Sister Bermuda’s mentoring programme.

Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, better known as Power Girl, of Big Brothers Big Sisters said: “The economic climate in Bermuda has been really tough on charities throughout the island so we have come up with new and creative ways to raise funds.

“I want to encourage the Bermuda community to support our fundraiser and help us to continue servicing youth in Bermuda. Every donation counts.

“I can assure everyone that this will be a fun filled family event, full of laughs that they won’t want to miss.

“The audience will be able to choose some of the dares and some will even be able to participate.”

OBA candidate Jeff Sousa will go a round against Teresa Perozzi, Rachel Sawden of Bermy Deals will rap the theme song to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in full costume and if the money is right, promoter Vejay Steede, known for his outrageous hairstyles, will have his head shaved on stage.

Mr Sousa explained how his dare came about.

“When Patrina calls you up, you don’t say ‘no’.

“We all got a list of different things you can do.

“I put it to my Facebook friends to ask for help.

“All of a sudden, Bermuda’s middle-weight champion Teresa Perozzi says what about going a couple rounds with me.

“So I said, ‘yes, I will do it’.

“My focus is not trying to get knocked out as I have never boxed before.

“I’ve seen Teresa box, she is the number one female boxer that Bermuda has ever had in our history.

“The chocolate covered cockroaches look real good right now!”

Ms Sawden plans to get completely into character for her dare.

“I’m going to be performing alongside some friends the entire theme of Fresh Prince.

“I will be the Fresh Prince and I have other friends as the other characters.

“It’s something I could do to get some friends involved so it’s not just me on stage.

“I just thought it would be a really fun thing that the crowd would enjoy.

“We will make it theatrical and we will all get into character.”

Mr Steede has three dares to choose from including getting a peanut butter facial on stage, giving an audience member a piggy back around Harbour Nights or shaving his head on stage.

“I figure the dares are cool and people may pay for them.

“One that people will probably pay more to see is to have my head shaved on stage.

“Yes, it’s been done before but I have a history of outrageous hair, but I’ve never been bald.

“I’m looking to raise $5,000.”
