A cruise passenger had to be rushed into Bermuda after she fell two decks and seriously injured herself.
The woman, who was on board the Norwegian Breakaway, suffered fractured ribs as a result of the accident on Tuesday.
It is unclear where exactly on the mega-ship that the accident took place or how it happened.
As a result the ship made an early emergency stop in the East End on Tuesday afternoon so the passenger could be taken to hospital for treatment.
The cruise liner made a rendez-vous with the pilot boat at around 5:30pm at Five Fathom Hole and the passenger, who was conscious and alert, was stretchered off the ship.
She was brought into Ordnance Island in St George’s and taken to Kind Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
The American woman was still being looked after at the hospital yesterday.
The Norwegian Breakaway returned to sea after the diversion and came into Dockyard at her scheduled arrival slot on Wednesday morning.
However, yesterday a second passenger was rushed off the ship while she was berthed and taken to hospital. The 72-year-old American man was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for a chest condition.
