TUESDAY, DEC. 18: Glen Smith unseated former Premier Paula Cox today by 95 votes.

Mr Smith said “a couple of things” made voters choose him. “One is jobs. There’s a lot of heavy unemployment in that constituency. Also crime, which is heavy right across the board.”

“The main emphasis is employment.”

“Let’s get Bermuda back to work.

As for his reaction to winning over Ms Cox, Mr Smith said: “It's history. I am not sure how to feel.

“I am ecstatic. I don't think it's really hit me.

“My Blackberry has been going crazy.

“It's an amazing feeling.

“It's a new day.”
