MONDAY, OCTOBER 31: The deaths of two cruise ship passengers on board the Norwegian Gem are not being treated as suspicious, according to US media.

The 67-year-old woman and 23-year-old man died on their homeward voyage after the ship left Bermuda last Wednesday following a two-day stay on the island.

Boston.com has reported that the woman died on Thursday afternoon after succumbing to a chronic illness, while the man’s cause of death was still being investigated.

The website article stated there was no evidence of criminal activity and included a statement from the Suffolk district attorney’s office saying: “The decedents were among separate parties, and their deaths were not related to one another.

“In the absence of criminal charges, no further details will be released.’’
