Sailor Malcolm Smith moved into medal contention after another solid performance in the laser standard class.

Smith had a second and a third yesterday and hasn't been out of the top three in the last four races.

But he continues to pay for the teething problems he suffered early in the week.

He was able to discard his worse performance - 11th on Monday. But a 10th and a 7th on Sunday still count against him.

He currently lies in fourth overall. But with only two races left and seven points separating him from the medal places he needs one of his rivals to have a bad day today.

Brett Wright, 3rd and 13th yesterday, is currently sixth but out of medal contention, 22 points off the pace.

Sara Lane Adderley looks to be Bermuda's best medal hope in the laser radials. She is in fourth spot, just one point off third.

And with Rockal Evans in seventh in that event Bermuda are looking good for gold in the team standings - six points ahead of their closest rivals, the Isle of Man.
