FRIDAY, JULY 20: Bermuda sweltered yesterday on the hottest day of the year so far. And it’s due to get even warmer today.

The mercury soared to just over 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30C) on Thursday and today it’s expected to hit 87 degrees (31C).

A spokesman for the Bermuda Weather Service confirmed: “Thursday has been the warmest day of the year so far.”

And there promises to be no let up on the heat as the island heads into the weekend.

The temperatures are unlikely to dip below 85 degrees  (29C) on Saturday and Sunday and into Monday, although some showers are predicted for later on Monday.
