OBA party chairman Thad Hollis has offered to resign as the fallout from the JetGate scandal continues to snowball.

The move came just days after Mr Hollis released his findings into a $350,000 donation by US businessman Nathan Landow and his associates in the run-up to the 2012 election.

The money was transferred into the Bermuda Political Action Club account in the names of Steven DeCosta and OBA political consultant Derrick Green.

They say the money was put towards a grass roots campaign in the build-up to the election.

A statement from the OBA released yesterday evening stated: “The Acting Leader (Michael Dunkley) of the One Bermuda Alliance is in receipt of a letter of resignation from Chairman Thad Hollis.

“It was presented to the Party Central Executive last night and, as of yet, it has not been accepted or rejected, pending further discussions.

“The party will update the press as soon as the matter is resolved.”

The latest resignation follows that of Premier Craig Cannonier and former AG Mark Pettingill earlier this summer.

And it adds to growing turmoil within the embattled party.

The Bermuda Sun understands that the report sparked immense dissatisfaction within the party because the investigation was never authorized by the party executive or the Premier.

And it is believed that key figures who are mentioned in the report, including Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy, were never interviewed by Mr Hollis.
