FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28: Shianne Smith saved her best for last at the Pan Am Games when she won the 800 metres in the Women’s Heptathlon competition.

Smith set a personal best when she clocked a 2:15.37 in the 800 on Wednesday night. It was one of three PBs for the athlete in the heptathlon.

Smith also set a new best in the opening event on Tuesday, the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.50, which was good enough for fourth.

With a leap of 5.63 metres in the long jump, she also set a new mark for herself. She finished sixth in the long jump.

Shianne finished 10th overall with 5,113 points. Lucimara Da Silva of Brazil won the gold while Yasmiany Pedroso of Cuba won silver and Francia Manzanillo of the Dominican Republic taking home the silver.

Smith was 13th in the long jump (1.50m), 11th in the shot put (10.47m).

She clocked 25.04 in the 200 metres. She finished seventh. Wednesday saw her also throw the javelin 31.95 metres, which was good enough for 10th.
