Bermuda kept up their chase for a surprise medal in the volleyball with a routine win over Guernsey at Berkeley Institute.

Still buoyed by their upset win over fancied Faroe Islands on Monday, Bermuda dispatched bottom-placed Guernsey in under an hour to sit in second spot in the round robin table.

The hosts are two points clear of Aland and four clear of Faore but have played two games more than both their rivals.

Saaremaa, winners of the past four Island Games gold, are in top spot with a 100-per-cent record from their four games.

Bermuda’s final game is against Greenland on Friday at 9am at CedarBridge Academy.

Meanwhile, Bermuda’s squash team made an impressive start to the team event on Wednesday, thrashing Gibraltar 5-0.

Micah Franklin defeated Anthony Brindle 6-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-9; Nick Kyme beat Christian Navas 11-5, 11-8, 11-9 while Noah Browne saw off Steve Shacaluga 11-3, 11-8, 11-6.

Laura Robinson hammered Gail Attias 11-1, 11-3, 11-3 and Susie Lacey brushed aside Zoie Smith 11-5, 11-2, 11-3 to complete the whitewash.

Bermuda also play Jersey on Wednesday. Result to follow.
