Bermuda sailors Kalin Hillier and Brett Wright, who won gold in Shetland in 2005, swapped positions at the top of the laser redial rig leaderboard on Wednesday as the former produced stunning performances in races five and six.

The 18-year-old bagged his second win of the regatta and – now able to cross off his worst finish — is in gold medal place with a nett 11 points and four races remaining.

It wasn’t such a good day for Wright, who started the day in first. He managed a sixth and a 10th but was able to scrub the 10th off to finish the day on nett 17 in second. Oscar Gomez is in third with a nett 18.

In the laser standard rig event, Bermuda’s Malcom Smith is in tied first spot after a seventh (scrubbed) and a race victory. He is level on nett 13 with Ynys Mon’s Eifion Mon.

The hosts’ Rockal Evans is in sixth after a sixth and a seventh-place finish today.

Racing continues on the Great Sound on Thursday and Friday.
