MONDAY, APRIL 30: University of Georgia runner Aaron Evans had two wins over the weekend as part of his final tune-up before the SEC meet in two weeks’ time.

Evans, who was third in the NCAA National Championships two years ago, seems to be peaking just in time for the big meets at the end of the season.

Evans, running in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, helped anchor the Bulldogs Men 1600 Sprint Medley relay to victory.

He followed that up by triumphing in the 800m by clocking 1:49.36, beating Mike Hutton from St. Thomas (Minnesota) by 0.11ths of a second.

University of Georgia head track coach Wayne Norton said in a release: “The team ran well as a team and was highlighted by Aaron Evans on the fourth leg. He ran a 1:47 for the 800. Aaron showed that he is now back to running the kind of times we need from him.

"Aaron's win in the 800 was doubly good because it added to UGA's win total for the day and it showed again that he is ready to run extremely well this year.

“He was able to run 147 and 149 in the same day. His fitness level is very good right now.”
