Triathlete Flora Duffy finished 18th in a high-class elite women’s field at the ITU World Series race in Chicago.

The Bermudian was four minutes 12 seconds behind home winner and top ranked ITU woman Gwen Jorgensen, who crossed the finish line in 1:55:33.

Duffy, who has enjoyed a terrific season to date with a number of XTERRA victories, produced another fantastic display as she gears up to the Commonwealth Games.

After the swim in Chicago, Duffy started the bike section outside the top 30 but was up to 13th at one point. However, she dropped back to 24th before clawing back some places on the run.

After the race, Duffy tweeted: "Tough welcome back to ?@worldtriathlon but enjoyed every minute. Pleased to crack the top 20."

Helen Jenkins, of Great Britain, was second and Japan’s Juri Ide was third.

Duffy’s splits were: 21:01 (swim),  58:48 (bike) and 38 :23 (run).
