DeCosta is the best of the best, defeats three challengers
Nick DeCosta drove the horse, which has twice equalled the track record this season, to victory. The Colonel, owned by Michael DeCosta out of the Inwood Stables, reached the finals along with George Tee, Mike's Shadow and GV Crystal Ball after Saturday's qualifiers. And in a two-race series on Monday night DeCosta had a first and a second to win the title on aggregrate time from Mark Richardson, who drove George Tee.
Owned by Joe Correia, out of the Roque stables, George Tee was making his debut at the Champion of Champions event. Mike's Shadow, driven by Robert Lopes and owned by Michael De Costa, finished third. The horse actually won the second heat but lost out to George Tee on average time. Ed Roque's (pictured) GV Crystal Ball, one of the fastest horses all season, finished fourth.[[In-content Ad]]
