The Bermuda Cricket Board Under-13 side currently touring South Africa ‘have work to do’, according to Development Team Director Kim Jackson.
The squad are benefiting hugely from a series of tough games against local schools and Jackson told the Bermuda Sun the players are learning from the more disciplined performances of their hosts.
The BCB team have won just one of the five games played so far but have enjoyed two coaching sessions at Boland Cricket Academy.
Jackson said: “The boys and girls are really enjoying the trip, with both the cricket and the cultural experience.
“The training at Boland Cricket Academy on two occasions was a success and you could see the boys’ excitement with the drills and their eagerness to interact with the coach.
Good teamwork
“I was impressed with how he integrated teamwork in the coaching plan and used the players as coaches for one another.
“They have lost three games, however, they are improving. Keep in mind this allows us a real check at where we are and where we want to go.
“I have to tell you the interest in developing themselves has really captured me, as the players are focused on working to develop their game. We have work to do, as one thing that stood out at every game is the level of discipline from the South African players.”
The BCB win came against Knysna School, who were bowled out for 90 before the Bermuda team squeezed home with a wicket to spare. Pick of the bowlers were Faheem Swan (4-19); Kayla Raymond (1-2); Cameron Jeffers (1-16); Kameron Mason (1-14); Sean Tucker (1-14) and Kacy Greene (1-15).
With the bat, Jade Morrissey scored 25, Cameron Jeffers 16 and Leilanni Nesbeth 12.
