In Japan, sakura, or cherry blossoms, stand as the symbolic flower of spring.
They begin appearing all over the country, indicating that spring is in the air with Summer not that far behind. A change of season always requires a change in fashion, beauty and, of course, hair.
This time of year is when we have clients bursting through the doors asking for lighter colours, more vibrant colours and of course lots and lots of highlights.
The colour and style trends for this season are dazzling, intense and very vivid, full of texture and structure, delivering a grand variety to select from without getting bored.
For all the ladies who love the colour blonde whether in a highlight or a full on colour, whiter than white ice blonde is all the rage this season.
My chocolate hair lovers not to worry, a deep dark espresso perfect for the blue eyes fair skin client is in order as well.
Clients that want to be a little more risky, a fiery flaming vibrant copper or all hues of pink will be the show-stoppers this season.
Techniques such as ombre, bolyage and flamboyage can be carried out to create the perfect blend for any of the above-mentioned colours — the possibilities are endless.
What would a good colour be without a great style to showcase the perfect blend? ‘This season will witness the persistence of the tribal look — braids, texture and quiffs.
The skater girl looks for our young ladies and the “professional lady night look” will be ever present as well.
This look will see shoulder length hair (and longer) with a matt texture or loose lived-in waves that are product free.
Rising damp-curls and waves, racked back up dos, wet look shine can be tweaked to be worn both night and day perfect for those lazy days.
The retro look will display structure, texture and volume by presenting low ponytails, finger waves, chignons, teased crowns and sleek shapes. Clients always require change and what better time than the present! Get online, buy a new magazine, research any of the spring/ summer 2014 trends and go for a change!
