The tug, Mega, and its barge, Motti, have been making slow progress in harsh conditions as they head for Bermuda.

The twin team originated in the Canary Islands but has been pounded by high seas and strong winds in the last couple of weeks.

As a result they are running behind their arrival slot and should be at the Commercial Berth in Dockyard on Friday.

The tug will refuel and the crew will pick up supplies and provisions before they continue on their trip to Quebec after the weekend.

The operation of this tug and barge is fairly unique in that the tug slots into the back of the barge, which is used to carry ballast and building materials, and pushes from behind.

As a result the 110-metre-long vessel cruises at a sedate 10 knots.

On this voyage the barge is empty as the two crafts are simply relocating from Europe to Canada.

Elsewhere it’s fairly quiet out at sea this week.

The formidable form of the Eclipse left Bermuda on Monday bound for the east coast of the US.

While the Somers Isles and the Bermuda Islander are the only other arrivals into Bermuda this week.
