Daniel Augustus grabbed the Jack Daniels Golf Tour’s second major of the year with an impressive two under par 69 at the Mid Ocean Golf Club.
Augustus’ low score was even more impressive considering he suffered through double bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes to make the turn at 37 (+2).
After a string of four pars on the back nine, he turned up the heat with a birdie on 14, which was followed by an eagle on 15 and another birdie on 17. Augustus finished with a 32 (-4) on the back nine to take the title by two strokes over Twilton Smith. Smith had a good round going with five birdies, but a number of bogeys helped him level off his score at an even par 71.
Brian Morris managed to steady his game with a 73 (+2) to take third while fourth was shared by Chaka DeSilva, Dwayne Pearman and the ever young Eardley Jones, who all shot 76 (+5).
Money
Augustus earned $700 for the victory with Smith taking home $450 for second and Morris $350 for third.
Jones, Desilva and Pearman split the purse for fourth with each being able to deposit $216.50. Paul Adams, Chris Grantier and Darriek Douglas each won $33.
