Breast cancer support group is awarded charitable status
TUESDAY, DEC. 13: Breast cancer fundraising and support group Mélange has been awarded charitable status.
The organization was launched four years ago as a group of women supporting a cause they were touched by either directly or indirectly.
Mélange makes invites cancer survivors to share their experiences with an audience at its annual fundraiser.
Co- founder Renee Carter was a recipient of Bermuda’s 100 Most Influential Women and received a Cable Vision Volunteer Award all while undergoing a return of her own breast cancer.
Carter told the Bermud Sun: “The awards were on behalf of Mélange, and being recognized for doing this is so exhilarating. It’s been an amazing four years.”
Mélange was previously run under under the umbrella of Bermuda Cancer and Health but it is now on its own two feet.
Carter added: “With new ventures, its always scary to fly solo, but we are not alone. We are many, and until there is a cure, we know we’re in good company.
