Brooks, the favourite for the women’s title at the Bermuda Open — the first major event of the year, and her partner Laverne Stowe crushed Geri Swan and Yuko Girard to march on in the doubles.
And Brooks will be back in action later this week as she goes for the singles crown.
One of her challengers for that title could be Kim Burns who looked solid during an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory over Carolina Franchini on Monday evening.
Also on Monday in the mixed-doubles Tara Lambert and Romar Douglas, both students returning from college, put in an impressive display to overcome Tennis coach Brent Smith and his student Caralita Jospeh 6-2, 6-2.
In other action on Monday Wilf Gonslaves beat Marx Zinsmeister in three-sets and Brendan Daly comfortably overcame Freddy Wade in the men's singles.
Top-seed Andy Bray and rival David Jenkins were both due to be in action last night, while teenage star David Thomas and former Sri Lankan Davis Cup player Samitha Ranaweera are in action later in the week.
The finals are scheduled for this weekend at the W.E.R Joell Tennis Stadium.[[In-content Ad]]
