Christmas spirit alive at walkabout
THURSDAY, DEC. 1: St George’s will be full of festive magic with the Bermuda National Trust’s Christmas Walkabout on Friday night.
The spirit of yesteryear will be alive as the oldest continually occupied buildings will be decorated and candle lit. Old favourites such as the Old Rectory, Samaritans’ Lodge, Samaritans’ Cottages, Buckingham, Tucker House and the Globe Hotel will also be open on the evening. King’s Square will showcase the Jackson School of Performing Arts, In Motion, the Bermuda School of Music and the Salvation Army Band.
There will be entertainment throughout the town and refreshments will be served at various locations in the Old Town.
For children there are Christmas crafts at St. Peter’s Church Hall, now renamed the Edith Clair Spencer Hall, and Santa and his elf will be there too.
The walkabout takes place from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. It has become a popular community event with the support of volunteer musicians and school groups marking the start of the Christmas season.
