TUESDAY, MARCH 6: A magic and comedy show with fun for the whole family will take place this weekend.
Comedy and Magic will feature Bermudian and overseas entertainers and is the 16th annual event.
It will be held on Sunday at Ruth Seaton James at 4:30pm.
Organiser O’Brian Roberts said: “Bermuda Magic and the Specialized Youth Arts Charity 679 have presented the annual magic show in Bermuda for the past sixteen years.
“It has become a staple on the family entertainment calendar.
“Our event attracts a very loyal and diverse audience from ages four years and up who look to forward to seeing entertaining magic and other variety acts.
“The show always showcases Bermuda’s best magicians.
“This year we will showcase Llewellyn Simons and Gary Robinson.
“Youth magicians Ryan Day and Raven Duffy will also be part of our pre-show entertainment.”
As far the overseas entertainers, Roberts said: “Our Canadian guest artist comedy magician Matt Disero and comedy juggler Johnny Toronto are seasoned professionals with years of experience.
“Both have been to Bermuda before.
“Johnny last performed here 10 years ago and stole the show with his juggling feats and personality.
He was a true crowd favourite.”
He continued: “Matt is no stranger to Bermuda having travelled here on several occasions on cruise ships.
“He will bring to the stage fresh family-friendly comedy along with powerful up-close and personal magic. The sleight of hand crowd will not be disappointed.”
In addition to the show, there will also be a magic shop where attendees can buy various items. Roberts said the event is truly for the whole family.
“Young children will of course enjoy the event and they will be encouraged to participate at various times throughout the show along with the adults.
“Our event was started with young people in mind.
“We are always mindful of our youth and we not only entertain but encourage the youth to become involved in the arts to keep it alive and strong in Bermuda.”
The show itself is expected to last two hours with an intermission. Snacks and drinks will be on sale.
For what attendees can expect, Roberts said: “Families can expect first class family friendly entertainment.
“People can not only expect to see Magic but they will become part of the Magical experience.”
He continued: “Our event is in its sixteenth year in Bermuda.
“We have entertained thousands of people and we believe that we have done our part in enriching the community, something which will continue.
“Although we focus on magic our message is simple, ‘bringing people to together’.”
In addition to hosting the show every year, Bermuda Magic also holds workshops
“Over the past 11 years we have introduced over one 100 of the youth and adults of Bermuda to the arts of magic, balloon art, Diablo and juggling.
“Our workshop is always tutored by a professional master magician.
“Several of the participants have been invited in the past to perform on our stage. All of the local participants in our 2012 show got their start at the Magic Workshop.”
