Dillas to defend Match Play title at Mid Ocean

The Bermuda Amateur Match Play Championships takes place at the Mid Ocean Club starting on Monday, March 7.

Defending Champions Jarryd Dillas and Katrin Burnie have returned to fight for the titles again.

Among the field are notable players Dr. Robert Vallis, Blake Marshall, and Nicholas Mansell, who was in the final last year with Dillas.

First timers to the island, Nicholas Torrance and Chris Carvill, will be looking to place well in this year’s championships.

 In the ladies division, Burnie will have to play well against the likes of Ebonie Burgess, Susan Vallis and Sandy Hutchings.

Tariqah Walikraam, winner of the 2009 Match Play Championship, is returning to the island to try and win back the title.

Burgess won this event back in 2004.

 For the first time, this event will receive world ranking points for the top finishers in both the two round qualifier and the overall winners of the Match Play Championships.

Dillas is currently ranked 1,871, Vallis is 3,816 and Carvill is 4,208 in the world.

Tee times will start at 8am each day and it is open to the public to come and watch the event.

There are 15 women and 32 men signed up for the Championships.
