Girls learn about self-worth at conference
They attended the annual Girl’s Talk conference at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Monday. The conference brought together girls from schools around the island to discuss various topics.
The theme at this year's event, organized by the Girl’s Talk Organization, was designed to help the girls learn about finding and nurturing their talents, loving and respecting their mind and bodies and how to have healthy relationships.
They joined to celebrate the theme Be True to Yourself: Love Yourself. The conference featured guest speakers Lisa Trott, Alicia Huddock and Perri-Lyn Furbert. The girls developed their sisterhood through team building skills with games provided by Young Life.
Stylebreakers provided the entertainment along with the competitors in the Pretty Girl Rock dance competition.
Organizer Andresa Julien-Osborne said: “The conference was beneficial to the girls because they have learned that it is important to embrace and respect the characteristics that make them unique individuals. They also have learned to respect other people that are not just like them. Through teamwork every individual can combine their unique qualities with another to create something that has value.”
The Girl’s Talk Organization is in the process of applying for charitable status.
