Government issues flood warning
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21:
Ministry of Public Works Advises of Potential for Flooding
The Ministry of Public Works has advised that the Island may experience flooding for several days beginning later this week as unseasonably high tides combine with a storm system.
In late October an advisory was sent that the Long Term Car Park at LFW Airport was flooded due to high tides being approximately a foot and a half above normal.
During the previous high tides, Airport management had arranged to have vehicles towed to higher ground. However, Airport Management have advised that such action couldn’t be guaranteed in future and that car owners must continue to be aware that they park at their own risk.
Higher than normal tides are expected again later this week and into next and when combined with an approaching storm system, sea water will rise higher than usual around the island.
Members of the public should use caution when parking at the Long Term Car Park at the Airport and other low lying areas should prepare for potential flooding.
