Hamilton traffic restrictions for Marathon Weekend

THURSDAY, JANUARY 12: The City of Hamilton today issued a traffic advisory providing details of changes to traffic flow to support events taking place in the city on evening of Friday, January 13 and Sunday, January 15.

 

Friday, January 13, 2012 – K.P.M.G Invitational Mile and Bermuda Regiment Musical Display

The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 5:00p.m. to

11:00p.m.:

  • Front Street: between Par-la-Ville Road and the bottom of Spurlings Hill.
  • Burnaby Street: between Reid and Front Streets.

No parking areas:

  • From 5:00p.m. to 11:00p.m.there will be no parking on Front Street between Par-la-Ville Road and the bottom of Spurlings Hill; and Burnaby Street between Reid and Front Streets.
  • Patrons of Front Street east businesses are asked to remove their vehicles from that section of Front Street by no later than 5:00p.m.

No. 1 Car Park:

  • There will be no parking after 2:00p.m., the gates will be locked at 5:00p.m. and unlocked at 11:00p.m.

No. 5 Car Park:

  • There will be no parking after 2:00p.m., access will not be granted from 5:00p.m. to 11:00p.m.


Saturday, January 14, 2012 – Bermuda Track & Field Association 10K

The Bermuda Police Service would like for the motoring public to bear in mind the following due to the Bermuda Track & Field Association 10K which begins on Saturday 14th January 2012 at 9am.

All vehicles will be prevented from entering the race route between the start of the 10k on Parsons Road and the junction of Verdmont Road and Middle Road.

Please note: no traffic is permitted to travel in the same direction as the runners.


Road Closures

The following roads will be subject to closure from 8:45am:

  • Parsons Road – From Roberts Avenue to Montpellier Road.
  • Montpellier Road – From Parsons Road to Middle Road.
  • Frog Lane – From Palmetto Road to Parsons Road.
  • Old Military Road – From Parsons Road to Frog Lane (except for access to Cedar Park Estate).
  • Middle Road – From Corkscrew Hill to Verdmont Road.
  • North Shore Road (Westbound) – From Flatts/ Middle Road to Barkers Hill Roundabout.
  • Gymnasium Road – From Frog Lane to Headquarters Hill.

 

Diversions

Traffic travelling through Flatts heading west will be diverted onto Middle Road.

No Parking

No parking will be permitted in the following locations from 8am – 11am:

  • Parsons Road – From Roberts Avenue to Montpellier Road.
  • Frog Lane – From Palmetto Road to Parsons Road.
  • Montpellier Road – From Parsons Road to Middle Road.
  • Gymnasium Road – From Frog Lane to Fort Hill Road.
  • Flatts Village – From St James Court to Middle Road.
  • Fort Hill Road – From Alexandra Road to Gymnasium Road.

Sunday, January 15, 2012 – Bermuda International Marathon and Half Marathon

The Bermuda Police Service would like for the motoring public to bear in mind the following due to the Bermuda Marathon and Half Marathon which starts Sunday 15th January 2012 at 8am.

Please note:  No traffic will be permitted to travel in the same direction as the runners.

Road Closures

From 5am:

  • Front Street - from Queen Street to Court Street.
  • Burnaby Street – from Reid Street to Front Street.

From 7am to 4pm, the following roads will remain closed:

  • Front Street – from Woodbourne Avenue to King Street.
  • Bermudiana Road – from Front Street to Church Street.
  • Gorham Road – between Bermudiana Road and Woodbourne Avenue.
  • Par La Ville Road - from Front Street to Church Street.
  • Rosebank Road – between Par La Ville and Bermudiana Road.
  • Burnaby Street – from Front Street to Reid Street.
  • Court Street – from Front Street to Reid Street.
  • King Street – between Reid Street and Front Street.
  • Spurling Hill – in an easterly direction to Crow Lane.


Diversions

Starting at 7:30am:

Traffic travelling into the City on Pitts Bay Road will be diverted onto Woodbourne Avenue.

Traffic travelling into the City along Crow Lane/ East Broadway will be diverted up Spurling Hill.

Traffic travelling out of the City from King Street will not be permitted to travel down Spurling Hill.

For the initial stage of the race, traffic travelling east on South Road will be required to divert onto Harbour Road/ The Lane to reach North Roundabout. Traffic will then be permitted to divert up Point Finger Road/ Berry Hill Road.

At the junction of Devils Hole and Harrington Sound Road, traffic will be diverted to travel onto South Road. No vehicles will permitted to continue along Harrington Sound Road in the same direction as the runners.

Traffic travelling through Flatts heading west onto North Shore Road will not be permitted to continue along North Shore Road, they  will be diverted onto Middle Road. Traffic travelling east down Middle Road towards Flatts will be permitted to continue east on North Shore Road, or turn right along Harrington Sound Road in the opposite direction to the runners.

Motorists entering the city from Pitt’s Bay Road are advised to turn onto Woodbourne Avenue, travel down Gorham Road, turn left on Bermudiana Road, and then right onto Church Street, in order to gain access to city churches and other locations. Likewise, motorists entering the city from East Broadway are advised to turn north on Court Street.


No Parking

There will be no parking on both sides of the following streets between 4:00a.m. and 4:00p.m.:

  • Front Street: between Bermudiana Road and Court Street.
  • Bermudiana Road: between Front Street and Gorham Road.
  • Rosebank Road: between Par-la-Ville and Bermudiana Roads.
  • Par-la-Ville Road: between Front and Church Streets.
  • Flatts Village – From St James Court to Middle Road.

Reserved parking area:

  • Queen Street: between Front and Reid Streets will be reserved for taxi parking from 9:30a.m. Access will be from Reid Street.
