Islandwide Tag Day to raise money for new school in Haiti
WEDNESDAY, MAY 30: The Feed My Lambs Ministry is having an island-wide Tag Day so the charity can finish building a school in poverty stricken Haiti.
The Tag Day will take place in some 30 different locations across the island.
Money raised will go towards building the Feed My Lambs Academy and also the charity’s clinic The Feed My Lambs Health Centre. Phillip Rego of Feed My Lambs Ministry said: “T’he poverty level in Haiti is so severe that most children are unable to attend school. Education in Haiti is not free. The cost for a child to attend primary school can vary anywhere from $150 to $250 a year before the cost of uniform, shoes, and exam fees. To Bermudians this cost may seem very affordable, but to a people where the average salary ranges from $40 to $80 a month, this is nearly unattainable. Our school will accommodate around 400 children.
“Many Haitians are suffering and dying from diseases that can be easily treated. Our hope is to build a clinic that will provide medical care to the people in the community where our orphanage and school is located. Your generous contributions will help us accomplish these goals.”
