FRIDAY, SEPT 21: Bermudians today linked hands at Hamilton’s City Hall to mark the United Nations International Day of Peace.

Organiser Glenn Fubler, of Imagine Bermuda, said the event was just one of several across the island aimed at promoting an end to conflict around the globe.

The Day of Peace was marked by a minute’s silence at noon, preceded by a prayer for peace by Anglican Canon Thomas Nisbett.

The Day of Peace was backed by trade unions, employers’ organisations and faith groups.

The celebration included performances by local performers, as well as international star Maxi Priest and other well-known acts on the island for tonight’s John Lennon Double Fantasy tribute concert.
