Sandys Secondary hosts 'Grand Reunion'

TUESDAY, JULY 17: Cupmatch weekend celebrations in the West End will include a Grand Reunion of former students of Sandys Secondary and Sandys Sec. Middle School on Saturday evening, 4th August, 2012.

A spokesperson for the Board of Governors and Trustees, indicated that the Reunion, to be held in the school’s Amphitheatre, is partially planned to formally thank the hundreds of former students and teachers who contributed to the construction of what is now Sandys 360 Sport, Aquatic and Enrichment Centre. Former teachers, students and their families helped to raise thousands of dollars - through many raffle ticket sales, annual school Fairs, and various other fund raising activities over many years.

The evening’s programme will begin at 6:30 p.m. with organized tours of the 360 Centre for those who would not have had the opportunity to see the facility prior. The Centre comprises a full size gymnasium (the official home of the Bermuda Basketball Association). Bermuda’s only 25metre indoor, heated swimming pool, an aerobic suite and viewing galleries over both the gym and the pool. Programmes offered cover all ages from youth to seniors and for the entire community.

There will be opportunities for old friends and former classmates to meet and chat over a light meal.

A formal programme of entertainment by former students, and a fashion show, including old school uniforms - if they can still fit - will follow.

The evening activities will include a brief period of acknowledgements of former principal’s, teachers, former students living abroad – home for Cupmatch, and then, the party begins! To old and new sounds of a DJ, to the wee hours of the morning, and based on previous Reunions, it is likely to be………The Party of the Year!

All former teachers and former students over the age of 18 are invited to attend, and are welcomed to bring along spouses and significant others.

Price of admission will be $20.00 and funds will go towards Sandys 360’s Youth Development Programmes. Pre event ticket are currently available at Caesar’s Pharmacy, Sandys 360, People’s Pharmacy and Clara-Bows Boutique. Raffle tickets will be on sale, which includes a Round Trip ticket, to London, a flat screen television and lots of other prizes. The Draw will take place during the evening of the Grand Reunion.
