Students raise $2,500 for teen with leukaemia
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 30: Hundreds of students at CedarBridge Academy dressed down today to raise money for a fellow pupil fighting leukaemia.
Up to 85 per cent of the school, including teachers, took part in the ‘Grub Day’ held in aid of Nahge’ O’Brien.
The 16-year-old is currently in Florida with his parents where he is receiving chemotherapy.
Today’s fundraising event raised more than $2,500.
Roshanda Caines, CedarBridge Academy guidance counsellor, said: “I was almost in tears to see how the pupils have reacted to this fundraiser. It has been so fantastic.
“Even the pupils who did not come in to school in their grub clothes gave money. I think more than 500 of our pupils took part in the fundraiser and showed their support of Nahge’.
“One pupil donated $50 which is incredibly generous.
“This is the most amount of money we have ever raised by a Grub Day at CedarBridge.”[[In-content Ad]]
