City Fashion Festival highlights local designers and models

The City Fashion Festival is scheduled to start on July 1, 2013. Making the announcement was City of Hamilton Event Project Manager, Ms. Danilee Trott.

Ms. Trott stated, “Each year the City Fashion Festival grows and evolves. This year we have a number of new activities taking place. The week will once again culminate with the Evolution Fashion Show in front of City Hall.

“The week will start with Mannequin Monday. Participating retailers, salons and sponsors will display live models in their windows and throughout their stores.”

Ms. Trott continued, “During the evening of July 1, the festival’s main events commence with the Hair & Beauty Showcase in the Earl Cameron Theatre, at

City Hall, featuring the city’s hair stylists and makeup artists, displaying their beautiful and fashion-forward creations.

On Thursday July 4, the Local Designer Showcase in the Harbourview Ballroom at Fairmont Hamilton Princess will feature Bermuda’s talented designers in a runway and reception style presentation. During the spring, local designers were paired with international fashion editors who mentored them on their collections, providing guidance, advice and support.”

Danilee Trott commented, “An additional new feature in this year’s festival is an invitation-only fashion presentation hosted by fashion mogul Rebecca Minkoff. Ms. Minkoff will come to Bermuda to highlight her latest collection which will be presented by all local models.”

The week concludes with the finale production of the Evolution Fashion Show, a world-class showcase displaying fashions from City retailers, 200 local models, exciting choreography, stunning make-up collections and the latest hair trends. Again this year, we have invited talent scouts, Elite Modelling Agency London to partner with the City, interact with local models and watch the Evolution Fashion Show with the view of possibly signing a local model. Local retailers are also on the lookout for new and fresh faces and could offer a year-long contract to an aspiring model.”
