Two mothers appeared in court this morning facing charges over an alleged assault that happened over the weekend.
Chanel Smith, 25, was charged with wounding Collisha Burch on November 9 with intent to do grievous bodily harm in Hamilton Parish
She was also charged with having a machete with a 26-inch bladed in a public place, Duck Puddles Drive, unlawfully assaulting Donte Ashley Allen and behaving a threatening manner towards her.
Vanessa Blyden, 22, was charged with unlawfully assaulting Ms Allen and causing her bodily harm on the same day.
The defendant’s were not required to enter pleas as the matters are indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.
After a lengthy bail hearing, Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted bail to each defendant in the amount of $10,000 with one surety each.
As part of their bail, Ms Blyden and Ms Smith must stay in their homes 24 hours a day and wear an electronic monitoring device.
The matter will be mentioned in two weeks.
