Basketball fundraiser a slam dunk hit
Almost $2,000 was raised for the Family Centre at the Caines Brothers Charity 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.
Around 350 people attended the event, featuring 60 participants and officials at the CedarBridge Gymnasium.
Some of the island’s premier basketball players competed for over $2,000 in prize money.
Throughout the night tons of giveaways were handed out to the crowd, while four lucky audience members had a chance to win a phone of their choice with a year’s free service with one half-court shot each.
Sadly no-one was successful.
One lucky person in the audience won an IPad mini in a random draw.
The big winner of the night, though, was the Family Centre — an internationally-recognized organization which services families in crisis from a holistic perspective.
Its executive director, Martha Dismont and some her staff were in attendance and assisted with the organization of the night’s events.
A spokesman for the Caines Brothers Basketball Tournament said in a press release: “We would like to thank Digicel for their sponsorship as well as providing volunteers to help on the night.
“We are committed to making a difference in our community and doing our part to bring Bermuda together.”
