iPhone 5c review: I want one!

I had the opportunity to test out the new iPhone 5C last week.

I’m currently using a Nokia so there really isn’t much of a comparison as of I was using a higher end phone like an HTC One of Samsung Galaxy, as the iPhone 5C was a huge upgrade.

One of the complaints about iPhones is how often the battery needs to be recharged. I used it for a week and only had to hook it up to the charger once (the 5C has a smaller port and the cables for the older generation iPhones, iPods and iPads won’t work on it). 

The phone has a faster processing chip, which is supposed to help avoid frequent charging. 

However, I found web browsing to be a bit slower than what I would get on my iPad.

The camera has also been upgraded. After accidently taking a selfie, I had it figured out. As a way to compete with Instagram, it comes with eight filters to add panache to your photos. 

The camera also comes with several lens setting which allows you to shoot panoramic or square photographs. 

I appreciated having the built in apps to the system. The most valuable to me was the Memos app. As a journalist I was able to use it to record an interview. It allowed me to ditch my digital recorder and have one less item to carry to an interview. 

With the upgraded camera, I could also leave another piece of equipment back at the office and lighten my load. 

For those reasons, I want one.

My biggest concern is with the plastic case. I’m very hard on my phones, which is why I normally get my wife’s hand-me-downs after she upgrades. 

She’s on an iPhone 4, but I don’t think I am going to wait to get my first Apple.
