Lennon’s legion of fans will be able to listen to demos of Woman, (Just Like) Starting Over, Nobody Told Me, I’m Losing You and Dear Yoko among others.
There will be a few interactive elements as well such as sailing to Bermuda from the US and visiting a disco and other places he visited in Bermuda.
All the revenue from the sale of the app (price not available yet) will go towards WhyHunger’s Imagine There’s No Hunger campaign. Yoko Ono, Lennon’s wife, said in a press release: “I think the album app captures the sense of discovery and the artistic dialogue that John and I shared at the time and provides a new way to help us imagine a world without hunger.”
On its website, WhyHunger says its global campaign was created to help hungry children grow the food they need to change their lives. The campaign takes place every November and December in partnership with Hard Rock International and Ono.
The spirit of the campaign is built on John Lennon’s vision of a world at peace and free from hunger. To date we have helped more than 300,000 hungry children in places like the Mississippi Delta, Native American Reservations, New Orleans, and in countries like Haiti, Kenya, Thailand, India, China, Nicaragua, Uganda, and more. The essence of “Imagine” is all about helping children tap into their own power to change their lives by not just meeting their immediate nutritional needs each day but by engaging them as active participants in growing food in the school yard and in communities and villages throughout the world helping change their lives forever.
