Two young women’s passion for pets have seem them start their own pet grooming and spa business.

Alisha Chapman and Jasmine-Blaire Butterfield have opened Love your Poochie on 15 Dudley Hill in Paget.

Ms Butterfield said: “Growing up we always loved animals and as we matured our love for animals became a passion that created our pet grooming and spa salon.”

Ms Chapman said: “I love working with animals and informing our clients of health issues, like how to extend your dog’s life.”

She said they have been pushing to get people to have their cats or dogs “teeth cleaned because it extends their life”.

Ms Butterfield adedd: we believe quality counts so we strive to offer our clients something that they can’t get anywhere else.”

Ms Butterfield said: “We love grooming and increasing the knowledge of our clients on how to extend the life of their special breed.

“We wanted to offer a pet grooming service that was extraordinary, tranquil and personable to the animal and its owner - not just dropping the animal off and picking it up when finished.

“Moreover, we want to interact with our clients regarding their pets grooming and any concerns that they should be aware.  Our passion for animals doesn’t just end in the salon we want to be a part of the community and bring awareness of how important it is to take care of your pets not just on the outside but the inside as well.”

Ms Chapman graduated from the Institute of Technical Arts with a certificate in Professional Pet Grooming

Ms Butterfield studied at the Basic & Beyond School‘s online programme.

Ms Chapman said: “I went away to school in Florida and was trained by other professional groomers who are in shows.

“They taught me how to do patterns for poodles, show grooming, nutrition, behaviour and other great things.”

Ms Chapman added in Bermuda pets have a lot of yeast problems and she specializes in skin care.

She said some of the service they do include hot oil treatments and colour.

Ms Chapman said that for cats they can do patterns and lion cuts among the services they offer.
