Tucker: It'll be special but fans must lose negativity
All-rounder Janeiro Tucker was the Twenty20 hero in Florida as Bermuda progressed to the next World Cup qualifying stage in Dubai in October.
But now’s he’s focused on the feast of 50-over cricket in Bermuda at the end of the month, when the host nation will take on Italy, Oman, Nepal, USA and Uganda as they bid for promotion to the ICC Division 2.
Tucker, like his skipper Stephen Outerbridge, believes home support can be crucial — if some fans “lose the negativity”.
He said: “It’s going to be special playing 50-over cricket in Bermuda. Hopefully the fans are going to get behind the team and not criticize. It’s all about qualification.
“Playing in front of your own fans is what it’s all about. When you look all over sport, when you play in front of your own fans, teams win 90 per cent of the time. We’re looking for the fans to lose the negativity. I think we will be ready for it.”
