TUESDAY, JUNE 14: CNN.com featured Bermuda as one of the world’s top honeymoon destinations in an article on their website today.

Bride’s Magazine travel editor Jacqueline Gifford was asked to provide “some unforgettable honeymoon ideas” to CNN.

She shared with them a recent survey for Bride's Magazine result that listed Bermuda among the top destinations. Bermuda was preceded by Hawaii, French Polynesia, Fiji, Italy and Bali in the survey. In the CNN article, Bermuda was listed in the top five.

Reasons why the island is a must for honeymooners included Bermuda’s close proximity to the US, pristine beauty and welcoming atmosphere.

The CNN.com article said: “A small island, Bermuda gives off a close-knit community feel while providing an exotic flavor. Pastel-colored buildings and crystal blue waters give the scenic impression that you're far from home without the long journey.”

“For couples taking a ‘mini-moon’ — and compensating with a longer honeymoon when time allows — Bermuda provides a special weekend getaway where you can still make it back to work on Monday.”

This isn’t the first time Bermuda has been featured on CNN.com. Last month the website showcased a slide show of Bermuda images with the heading “Beautiful scenes of Bermuda”.

Tourism Minister Patrice Minors said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Bermuda has been recognized in this way. Bermuda is undoubtedly one of the most unique honeymoon destinations.

“CNN.com is read by millions around the world, and this kind of added exposure is wonderful for our tourism product. We hope that this latest recognition will translate into couples deciding to spend their honeymoon on our shores.”

Just last week Bermuda was voted sixth among the world’s top 20 honeymoon destinations by Bride’s Magazine.[[In-content Ad]]
