FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2: Black Watch Pass, Spittal Pond, farmlands and golf courses all make up Bermuda’s beautiful rural landscape and they all feature in an upcoming show by Frank Dublin.

Rural Icons and Abstracts is made up of Dublin’s layered pastels and oil paintings. It shows the artist’s progression into aspects of abstract “expressionism”.

“Spittal Pond Nature Preserve is one of the most inspirational spaces in Bermuda. Having been raised in an agricultural environment in Grenada, I have always admired the beauty of nature and have great respect for the land.  I often find myself drawn to Spittal Pond for a jog or a walk in commune with nature.  There is peace and comfort in being surrounded by wetlands, cow pens and crashing waves on the rocky shoreline. Any time of day offers new inspirations, particularly in the quality of light approaching sunset. I have great respect and appreciation for the efforts it takes to maintain its agricultural integrity . I often find many families, especially children enjoying all that Spital Pond has to offer.

“Rural Icons” encompasses, Black Watch Pass, Farm Lands and Golf Courses. I commend those who are stewards of our Natural Resources.”

The show, which runs until February 8, also features a large modern image by Steven Masters.
