BIFF announces Best of the Fest
WEDNESDAY, MAR. 21: The Oscar-nominated dance documentary Pina is one of the films to be screened as part of the Bermuda International Film Festival’s Best of the Fest screenings tomorrow.
The festival decided this year to give the community a second chance to see the most popular films of the week-long event.
Pina by German director Wim Wenders, tells the story of legendary choreographer the late Pina Baush.
Other films to show are We Need To Talk About Kevin, A Separation, Trusting Rain and Poverty in Paradise.
In addition, the already scheduled closing film, Hysteria, will be screened at 7pm. BIFF managed to secure the film prior to its general release in the US and it has proved very popular with only a few seats remaining.
Bringing the festival to a close The BIFF Wrap Party — Celebrating 15 Years of Independent Film — takes place at Muse from 9pm. During the Wrap Party the winners of the
film festival will be announced. As BIFF is a qualifying film festival for the Short Film (Live Action) category of the Academy Awards, whichever film wins will automatically be considered for the Short Film Oscar. The winners of the two Audience Choice Awards, Best Feature and Best Short, will also be announced at the Wrap Party. A live DJ and dancing will follow to see out another festival week in style. Tickets are priced at $50, which includes two drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and are available from www.tickets.biff.bm.
Tickets are available from www.tickets.biff.bm or at Liberty Theatre. Where seats remain, rush tickets will be available on the door five minutes prior to the screening for $10 (cash only).
