Buzz fuel their operation with Collectors' Hill outlet
FRIDAY, JANUARY 11: Restaurant chain Buzz has opened its newest outlet at the Esso Gas Station on Collectors’ Hill.
The new eatery officially opened last Thursday after the completion of just over a month of renovation work.
The gas station’s general manager, Stephen DeCosta, told the Bermuda Sun there had been no redundancies as a result of the changeover in catering provider.
He said: “We had two full-time employees on the catering side of things at Collector’s Hill; one 68-year-old lady who retired and the second man was offered another position but chose to go his own way. As for the other five full-time employees at Warwick and the City Esso we will have to wait and see how we can best accommodate that if Buzz moves in.
“We anticipate Buzz will come into the other stations but that has not been finalized yet.”
Buzz’s general manager, Thomas Mayer said the firm’s ‘A team’ had been sent in to Collector’s Hill to get the operation going.
He told the Bermuda Sun that the chain hoped to open eateries at the Esso Gas Stations in Crawl Hill, Warwick and the City of Hamilton within the next six months.
He said: “We are very pleased with the new venture. We were first approached by Esso last February and asked if we would be interested in doing the food there.
“We have been in negotiations since then and it makes us feel good to get to this point. We are sure it’s all going to be worthwhile in the long term.”
Mr Mayer added: “Our priority is to provide a high-quality service to our customers and we will do that to the best of our ability.”
The Bermuda Sun tried to contact Esso for a comment but we did not receive a response by time of going to press.
